Hungarian movie screening and panel discussion with the filmmakers in cooperation with the Danish Film Institute

On April 4, 2023, our Embassy in cooperation with the Danish Film Institute screened for the first time abroad the sketchfilm titled "The Quarantine Zone", which was premiered in Hungary in 2022 and is currently distributed by the HBO Max streaming service, to great interest. The screening was followed by a panel discussion with the creators: director Dániel Indi Zsótér, scriptwriter Orsolya Vida, and co-composer and music producer Márton Szegedi.

NATO Day commemoration and wreath-laying ceremony in Copenhagen

Ambassador Gabriella Jakab, at the invitation of Niels Hartvig Andersen, President of the Danish Veterans Association, attended the NATO Day commemoration at Kastellet, one of the best preserved fortifications in Northern Europe, in downtown Copenhagen, on 4 April 2023, where wreaths of honour were laid in memory of Danish veterans, along with ambassadors and other diplomatic representatives of other NATO member states and NATO candidate countries. Hungary is interested and committed to supporting and further strengthening NATO as a North Atlantic defence alliance.

Máté Vincze, Deputy State Secretary for Public Collections and Cultural Development of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation of Hungary visited Copenhagen on 16 March 2023 and Aarhus on 17 March 2023 at the invitation of Ambassador Gabriella Jakab, where he discussed digitalisation of public collections and challenges of museum management with Helene Nordborg Kiær, Head of the Cultural Heritage Office, Mads Kähler Holst, Director of the Moesgaard Museum in Aarhus and Heine Sveistrup Jensen, outgoing Honorary Consul General in the company of Ambassador Jakab and Consul and Cultural Diplomat dr. Commemoration and national day reception in Copenhagen and Aalborg on the occasion of the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence

This year, the Embassy of Hungary in Copenhagen celebrated the 175th anniversary of the outbreak of the 1848-49 Revolution and War of Independence in two locations and on two occasions. The commemorations were held in Copenhagen on 16 March, and on 18 March in Aalborg, co-organised by the Association of Hungarians in Aalborg (AMT), with the participation of a large number of Hungarian communities.

Visit of the Hungarian-Danish Cultural Association in Denmark

The Hungarian-Danish Cultural Association of Kecskemét visited Denmark with the aim of exploring possible ways to strengthen Hungarian-Danish relations and to strengthen the common links between the two countries. The delegation, accompanied by Ambassador Gabriella Jakab and Consul Gyula Mike, held fruitful discussions with a number of partners and paid their respects by laying a wreath at the statues of Sándor Petőfi and Júlia Szendrey.
