From 28 August to 3 September 2023, the Odense International Filmfestival received more than 4,000 entries, of which 129 films from 45 countries were selected for screening at the festival. In total, three films by three artists represented Hungary in Odense: Anna Gyimesi's short film Affricate, Balázs Turai's animated film "Amok" and Nikolett Fábián's animated film Resting Fog. At the results announcement on 3 September, Balázs Turai's short film "Amok" won first place in the Danish and international animation category, we congratulate him warmly!
Dr. Gyula Mike, Consul, Cultural Diplomat, represented our Embassy at the opening ceremony of the filmfestival on 28 August, and at the related cultural opening events throughout the day. He met the Director of the Danish Film Institute, the Deputy Mayor of Culture of the City of Odense, and also discussed possible future cooperation with director Anna Gyimesi. In the framework of a day-long program organised by the City Council for diplomats from the invited countries, the participants also visited, among other places, the H. C. Andersen Museum's interactive permanent "exhibition" on Andersen's life, which was opened to the public two years ago and features state-of-the-art technology, Odense's Viking cultural sites and the recently opened temporary exhibition at the Brandts Museum of Fine Arts on the work of Austrian-born Kiki Kogelnik, which will be on display until 14 January 2024.
Our Embassy has been actively involved in supporting the participation of film directors Anna Gyimesi and Balázs Turai in the film festival by providing transfers.
