Based on the latest developments related to the COVID-19, and the increasing second wave of the epidemic in Europe, the Hungarian government has decided to introduce new entry restrictions starting September 1, 2020.
Although the details of the restrictions are to be negotiated this weekend, in principle, the following rules may enter into force as of September 1, 2020:
- Foreign citizens may not enter the territory of Hungary, only in justified cases;
- For Hungarian citizens coming from abroad, the requirement is 14 days compulsory home quarantine, which may be suspended in case of two negative coronavirus tests.
Important to note, that only tests performed in Hungary can be accepted my Hungarian authorities!
- Unconfirmed yet, but foreign students will most likely be able to enter Hungary, however they will only be able to start their studies, if they present two negative PCR tests, each taken by an interval exceeding 48H.
- Transit corridors will operate as before.
